My name is Roberto. I was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, and I came to the United States nine years ago to play college tennis. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University (nation's top 10 NCAA Division II school) with a B.A. in Business Management and served as the team's captain on my last semester. I have also coached beginner and intermediate tennis players of all ages in Costa Rica as well as several collegiate dual matches. Regarding my playing history, I have played tournaments in over 10 countries, obtained a junior international ranking, and reached a ranking of #8 in Costa Rica. I have developed a curriculum for teaching 6-8 year old or 9-12 year old children to play pickleball that makes learning to play fun. It includes agility exercises, coordination exercizes, tricks with paddles & balls, and several hitting games that make practice fun. I use a foam ball and we don't play regular games with the youngest group. The older ones only use some of the rules, but they do play games, use a regular ball and keep score.
