Beginner training plan

Your first lessonReinforce proper grip, stance, and basic strokes (dinks, volleys, groundstrokes) • Work on consistency through controlled rallies. • Introduce the serve and return, emphasizing placement over power. • Teach basic court positioning, including moving with a partner in doubles. • Play mini-games to apply skills in a relaxed setting

Lesson 11+ • Continue refining strokes, consistency, and shot placement. • Introduce spin techniques (topspin, backspin) for more control. • Work on anticipation and reading opponents’ shots. • Play full games with coaching on real-time decision-making. Throughout each lesson, keep drills engaging and provide personalized feedback based on the player’s strengths and areas for improvement. The key is to ensure they’re continuously progressing while still having fun!

Lesson 4-10Teach blocking and resetting against hard shots. • Work on footwork for better movement and balance. • Introduce offensive shot selection—when to drive, drop, or lob. • Play more structured points with coaching feedback

Lesson 2-3Focus on dinking strategy and patience at the net. • Introduce the third shot drop and when to use it. • Work on transitioning from the baseline to the kitchen line. • Practice soft hands and paddle control.
