Do I need a background check to teach?

Yes. You can launch your profile without one, but to stay active past your first month, every coach needs a completed, approved background check. You can handle this right in the app: submit an existing valid check, or get a new one through our partner Dots (a few minutes, $10).

For U.S. coaches: Dots is easiest, but you can use another provider if it's from our approved list below:

  • Checkr
  • Sterling
  • First Advantage
  • Accurate Background
  • HireRight
  • GoodHire (employer product, not the personal or consumer version)
  • VICTIG
  • IntelliCorp
  • NCSI
  • Sterling / Verified Volunteers

Coaches Outside the U.S.: Use an international check through our vendor Checkr, or submit a valid check from your current employer.
